How to Apply Your Puff Embroidered Hat Patch
- Remove the backing sheet. Peel the backing away from the back of the embroidered patch. Keep the clear transfer sheet on the front of the design.
- Position the patch. Place the patch on the hat exactly where you want it. Keep the clear transfer sheet in place so all of the letters stay properly positioned.
- Heat press at 325°F for 25 seconds. Apply the patch using your hat heat press.
- Remove the hat from the heat and allow it to cool. Do not immediately peel off the clear transfer sheet.
- Remove the clear transfer sheet. Once the patch has cooled, carefully peel the clear film away from the embroidered letters.
- Check every letter. If any letter or edge tries to curl or lift, place the hat back on the press and repress the area.
- Remove the hat from the platen and allow it to finish cooling. As the hat cools, gently press down with your hand on any spots that appear to be lifting.
- Allow the patch to cool completely. The heat-activated adhesive continues to set as it cools. Once completely cooled, the adhesive will stay attached to the hat.
Optional Heat Tape Method
For additional help keeping the letters securely in place, you can place heat tape across the top of the letters before pressing. After pressing, leave the heat tape in place while the patch cools. Once completely cooled, carefully peel away the tape.
Important: A hat heat press is recommended for proper application. Results can vary depending on the hat material, heat press, pressure, and equipment. Always make sure your hat material can safely withstand the recommended application temperature before pressing.
