How to Apply Your Puff Embroidered Hat Patch
- Remove the backing sheet. Peel the backing away from the back of the embroidered patch. Keep the clear transfer sheet on the front of the design.
- Position the patch. Place the patch on the hat exactly where you want it. The clear transfer sheet helps keep the letters positioned correctly while you press.
- Heat press at 325°F for 25 seconds. Apply the patch using your hat heat press.
- Remove the hat from the heat and allow it to cool. Do not immediately peel the clear transfer sheet.
- Remove the clear transfer sheet. Once the patch has cooled, carefully peel away the clear film from the front of the letters.
- Check the letters. If any letters or edges attempt to curl or lift, repress the area.
- Remove the hat from the platen and allow it to finish cooling. As the hat cools, use your hand to gently press down any areas that appear to be lifting.
- Allow the patch to cool completely. The adhesive sets as it cools and will remain attached once fully cooled.
Optional Heat Tape Method
If you want additional help holding the letters securely in place, apply heat tape across the top of the letters before pressing. After pressing, leave the heat tape in place while the hat cools. Once completely cooled, carefully remove the tape.
Important: A hat heat press is recommended for proper application. Pressing results can vary depending on the hat material, press, pressure, and equipment. Always make sure the hat material is suitable for the recommended application temperature before pressing.
